Connections: Near and Far is the subject of a talk with poetry and music connecting past with present. Homegoing author, Yaa Gyasi says, “History is not this discrete thing that happens neatly and then ends. It’s dynamic; it affects everything that follows.” Our speaker, Joy Willow, is a classically trained musician, poet and “abstract naturalist” painter. Formerly an English teacher, singer-songwriter, and choral conductor, she has composed hundreds of poems, songs and choral pieces. She comes to us this Sunday from the UU congregation in Sonora. Worship associate is Avonelle Tomlinson.
