Unlike the tidy, romantic portrait of mothers/parents that reinforce traditional ideas of family, Mamas Day asks us to honor the diverse, full, and complex realities of mothering— and to honor and recognize the fact that we do not live in a society that truly supports/nurtures mothers, parents, and families, not nearly as much as we UU’s tend to think a society should.
