Dr. Martin Luther King in Selma, Alabama, \u201cWhen I marched in Selma, I felt my legs were praying.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>We show our values by showing up to answer the call for social justice.<\/p>\n<p>At UUFSC we have a track record of standing on the side of love, for civil rights, LGBTQ equality, immigration reform, environmental sustainability, reproductive justice, racial justice and more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FOCUS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our congregation focuses on the following <em>on-going actions every year<\/em>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Community Conversations: educational, participatory events focusing on diverse human rights issues, i.e., LGBTQ+, Neurodiversity, Disability Justice<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/centralvalleypridecenter.org\/\">MoPride<\/a> in the Park in October<\/li>\n<li>Salvation Army sock drive in December<\/li>\n<li>UU The Vote: a national UUA letter-writing platform encouraging voting to marginalized populations via Votefwd.org<\/li>\n<li>UUFSC joins in solidarity with other community organizations in rallys\/protests\/vigils as important on-going justice issues arise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Being UUs calls us not only to be active in the world, but to be active in a way that honors the diversity in our congregation and community.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7441\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/stanuu.org\/uufsc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/We-the-people-photo.jpg?resize=300%2C225&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/stanuu.org\/uufsc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/We-the-people-photo.jpg?resize=420%2C315&amp;ssl=1 420w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/stanuu.org\/uufsc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/We-the-people-photo.jpg?w=640&amp;ssl=1 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>COLLABORATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our Social Justice Team uses a process that respects the diversity of opinion in the congregation. In March &amp; April of 2024, our team set a goal of narrowing our focus, thus increasing the impact of our <span style=\"font-size: revert;\">work. Following a congregational survey, we chose to add the following to our <em>regularly-scheduled, ongoing efforts<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 2\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>Modesto\u2019s Peace\/Life Center Collaboration from July to December 2024: At the end of that six-month period, the team will decide to continue that collaboration for another six months or choose the next six-month issue in accordance with the survey results.<\/p>\n<p><em><b>Since its inception over 60 years ago, UUFSC has engaged in our local and larger communities in social justice actions such as:<\/b>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>UUFSC Christmas Sock Drive<\/li>\n<li>UUFSC Community Conversations<\/li>\n<li>Faith in the Valley (homeless issues)<\/li>\n<li>Family Promise (feeding homeless families)<\/li>\n<li>Forward Together Police Oversight<\/li>\n<li>Haven Women&#8217;s Center of Stanislaus County&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.havenwalkamile.org\/\">Walk a Mile<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Visit the web site for more information.<\/li>\n<li>Immigration Reform\/Farmworkers\u2019 Events<\/li>\n<li>Inter-Faith Ministries<\/li>\n<li>Latino Roundtable<\/li>\n<li>MoPRIDE\/LGBTQ+ Collaborative<\/li>\n<li>NAACP<\/li>\n<li>Peace\/Life Center<\/li>\n<li>Reproductive Justice<\/li>\n<li>Salvation Army Homeless Shelter Meals<\/li>\n<li>Stop Gun Violence<\/li>\n<li>UUTheVote<\/li>\n<li>V.I.P (Valley Improvement Project, Environmental Justice)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Social Justice Team keeps the congregation abreast of important local and national social justice dates and actions for their individual attention via e-blasts, Facebook page posts and emails.
