June 25, 2010: June 20, 2010: We had our annual Father's Day BBQ potluck on the 20th. The potluck committee chair, a man of impeccable grooming with an extensive wardrobe, asked all the men to come in Hawaiian shirts, under the assumption every well-dressed man had one or two. Some men didn't have them. Others had understated ones. An understated Hawaiian shirt is like a health food vending booth at the county fair - nice, but it misses the point. You go to the county fair to eat fat, salt and nitrates, preferably dripping with sauce and served on a bun. You wear a Hawaiian shirt to flout good taste, preferably one with 14 colors, three tropical flowers and a macaw. We did the best we could with what we had. Here's a group photo.
